What is Hypnosis and How Does It Work?

There have been a lot of talks around this topic: what is hypnosis, how does hypnosis work. Well, it is impossible to answer this question with one sentence or article. You have probably heard different hypnosis stories, tried to learn how to hypnotize anyone. The more you learn hypnosis, the more you can understand how powerful hypnosis is. Below, I will show you an article which discusses this topic. You can read it here:

    How Does Hypnosis Work?

In this article, you'll learn what and how does hypnosis work, how it's performed and the powerful benefits that you can enjoy if you learn how to do hypnosis.

    What's Hypnosis?

The term "hypnosis" can be best described as an interaction between two people. If one of the people is trying to influence another people's perceptions, feelings, thinking and behavior, then the former is called as "hypnotist" and the latter as "subject". In this interaction, the hypnotist will ask the subject to concentrate on ideas and images that may evoke the intended responses. The verbal communications that the hypnotist uses to achieve these responses are named "hypnotic suggestions". If a person practiced the hypnotic procedures on his own without the help of a hypnotist, that activity is called "self hypnosis".

    Types Of Hypnotic Suggestions

Ideomotor suggestion-The suggestion is made of a simple, automatic movement of a part of the body, such as a leg or arm. Example:"Raise your right hand" or "lift your legs".

Suggestions of perceptual experiences- The suggestion will give effects to the subject's sensory systems such as auditory or visual. Example: "Imagine you're in a beach (visual system)" or "You're hearing the sound of a car (auditory)"

Suggestions of complex experiences- These include suggestions of reliving an early memory and the idea of progressing in time to some future event. Example:"You're now 6 years old" or "You're in your late forties now"

Post-hypnotic suggestion- The suggestion is only used after a subject went through the previous 3 suggestions.

    How Does Hypnosis Work?

Hypnosis process usually starts with a "hypnotic induction". This usually consists of a series of suggestions by the hypnotist that will direct the subjects to relax and to become absorbed in their inner experiences, such as feelings, thoughts and imagery. The way subjects respond to suggestions and experience their responses may vary and depends on the expectations created by the hypnotist.

All the suggestions given by the hypnotist will make the subjects to fall into a "hypnotic trance" or best described as "a special altered state of consciousness". Even though the subjects may become very absorbed in the suggested ideas and images, they'll still retain awareness of their environment and respond appropriately to it. After the session, the subjects will be able to recall most, if not all, of what they attended to during the session.

One more important thing that you have to know is that even though you can hypnotize someone with hypnosis, you can't make people to commit acts against their will. However, the demands of the context in which the procedures take place may give pressure on the subject to comply with the hypnotist's instructions.

How to Do Self Hypnosis The Easy Way

Self Hypnosis is one of the most famous topics in hypnosis community. If you have some knowledge around hypnosis, then you have probably tried to hypnotize yourself. Hypnotizing yourself can be easy if you know how to do it. Like other forms of hypnosis, self hypnosis must be done using proper self hypnosis instructions. Below, you will learn how to do self hypnosis the easy way. So, read an article below and improve your hypnotize yourself abilities.

How to Do Self Hypnosis The Easy Way

According to Wikipedia, self hypnosis can be best defined as "a form of hypnosis which is self-induced, and normally makes use of self-suggestion or more commonly known as autosuggestion". Usually autosuggestion is closely related to affirmation in teaching someone how to do self hypnosis. In this article, I 'm going to focus more on explaining about the benefits of affirmation and how it can help to boost your life.

Affirmation is a combination of verbal and visual techniques of a preferred state of mind of a person. Powerful affirmations can be very effective and beneficial for you. It can be used by anybody to achieve goals and fulfill desires. It is merely an assertion made by a person, about something or about a state of being. To make things simple, you can say that affirmation is futuristic goals and ambitions that a person wants to achieve in future or how that person wants to be in life. Being healthy in mind, body, and spirit can also be made possible through affirmation as this is one of the best self hypnosis techniques for you.

Positive affirmations can help to boost one's subconscious. Once the subconscious is disciplined to believe a person's affirmation, the latter is converted into a positive action for the conscious mind to conceive. This technique will make you to believe in yourself and to put your thoughts into action. This will improve your self confidence or performance and therefore will lead to more rewards. The rewards could be in the form of physical things or satisfaction of personal needs. That's why I highly recommend you to learn how to do self hypnosis.

An affirmation will be strong and super effective when it's stated in present tense. An affirmation of "I am now a rich person" is more effective than an affirmation saying, "I am going to become a rich person." Affirmation should always be in positive terms because it is supposed to work for you and not against you. Instead of saying "I am not sad", why not make an affirmation saying "I am happy."

There you go. I have explained a simple technique on how to do self hypnosis properly and boost your life for good. There are many good self hypnosis courses around the Internet and please go and get one for you now. You'll be surprised to see the massive changes that you will have in life and lead a better life without suffering from stress, addiction to bad habits, improve relationship with people around you and guide you to achieve goals easily.

Covert Hypnosis and How It Works
Covert hypnosis is basically where a hypnotist uses different techniques and strategies to cause change in a person in a subtle and unconscious way. This means that the person who is being hypnotized is unaware of what is happening. It is the main difference in this type of hypnosis and the original way that it is typically done.

The methods that are used for covert hypnosis vary a lot from the way other hypnosis methods are usually done. Some of the techniques can be similar to other hypnosis types, but many of them are much different.

It is obvious that in order for any hypnosis session to be effective, the person must be put into a hypnotic trance. It is common for all types of hypnosis, including covert hypnosis. Both the original type of hypnosis and the covert type attempt to get a person into the trance state to make the hypnotic process be effective.

There are also big differences between them. Usually, the person who is being hypnotized is aware of what is happening, but in the covert type the person is put into a trance while having a normal conversation and is not aware of what is going on. That is what makes the covert hypnosis such powerful. There are various techniques that can be used to make this happen.

You should also understand that it is very hard to detect covert hypnosis techniques. Most people who have been hypnotized act on the hypnotic suggestions that were made and they believed that it was their own idea to do it.

This type of hypnosis is used for many different things such as, changing a person's though pattern, to get emotional responses and to change a person's behavior. Some people use these techniques to get unfair advantage over others, to sell something and so on. There are many other uses for this type of hypnosis, but these are the ones that it is used for a lot. Therapy is one of the more positive reasons that this is used for. Covert hypnosis is very helpful in hypnotherapy, especially for the clients whom the hypnotist needs to send indirect messages.

Did you know that during this whole hypnosis process the person that is going through it will be wide awake the whole time? The hypnotic suggestions that are slipped into the mind as they say, "below the radar".

Now, it is always a good idea to do your research to understand covert hypnosis better. You might even find a professional to speak to about this subject. This will help anyone understand it better. Do not try and do this on anyone yourself, unless you are a professional. So, you should get professional help if this is the type of hypnosis you believe will work for you.

History of Hypnosis: How Did It Start?
How did hypnosis exist in ancient times? Most people think that hypnosis has been used from 19-th century. But actually, hypnosis has been widely used in ancient societies by different names. In this article, I will talk about hypnosis history and discuss how hypnosis has been used in ancient times.

Hypnosis has been around for many years. In ancient civilizations, it was mainly used for healing purposes, especially in religious ceremonies. The earliest evidence of its existence was shamans.

Shaman paid special attention to the concentration while healing others. He avoided the use of any chemicals or alcoholic substances in the first 24 hours of the process. Because he needed strong concentration, so he avoided anything distracting.

During the process, shaman made himself as comfortable as possible, which allowed shaman’s subconscious mind to become strongly focused. Only after this he started the journey for healing. In this process, shaman was in a powerful process of visualization and suggestion during which he willed the sick person to be healed.

Hypnosis has been widely used in ancient places such as Egypt. The earliest written records can be found in an Egyptian medical text - Ebers Papyrus. Ebers Papyrus preserves the most voluminous record of ancient Egyptian medicine.

The Ancient Egyptians had their Temples of Sleep and the Greeks their Shrines of Healing. Sleep temples were hospitals of sorts, healing a variety of ailments. Treatment involved chanting, dancing, placing the patient into a hypnotic state and analyzing their dreams in order to determine treatment.

Hypnotic-like inductions were used to place the individual in a hypnotic state, although it is now accepted that hypnosis is different from sleep.

The elements of hypnosis are also seen in Persian Magi, Celtic Druids, Chinese teachers of religion, Hindu Fakirs and African Witch Doctors.

Avicenna (980-1037), a Persian psychologist and physician, was the earliest to make a distinction between sleep and hypnosis. In “The Book of Healing”, which he published in 1027, he referred to hypnosis in Arabic as al-Wahm al-Amil, stating that one could create conditions in another person so that he/she accepts the reality of hypnosis.

This is an ancient history of hypnosis and how people used it in the past. Learning ancient history of hypnosis helps to understand the modern hypnosis better and improve it this way.
